Easy answer - it is a 5 to 7 year car wax.
Hard answer - it is a nano engineered micro chemical substance that has be laboratory tested to provide an advanced barrier of protection on your vehicle to prevent damage from Ultraviolet Rays, Industrial fallout and dirt, Acid Rain, and Detergents.
It protects your paint be creating an additional barrier to protect against the elements.
Wax was designed to add a protective barrier on your vehicle. The idea is after your vehicle is cleaned, it needs to be polished and buffed to bring out its rich original shine. Wax is applied over the shined surface to protect the polish and the paint from fading and oxidation. The entire process is in place to make sure your vehicle looks nicer, often times better, then it did when it left the show room floor.
Time, Quality, and Lifetime expense.
Traditional car wax does not have a long life span on a vehicle. Under typical conditions, A spray on wax at a car wash, $3.00, will last 2 to 3 days. A spray on wax that is rubbed on by hand $7.00 and applied with a microfiber cloth will last 6 to 8 days. A premium paste wax $23.00 applied with a buffer will last 3 to 5 months.
None of the expenses listed account for your most precious commodity of all, your personal time. To efficiently and effectively apply paste wax to a vehicle takes approximately 6 to 8 hours for a large sedan sized vehicle.
That depends on how well you want to take care of your vehicle. UV inhibitors will protect the paint from fading. The Hydrophobic properties of a ceramic coat will help repel dirt and other debris. There will also be an additional barrier to help prevent minor scratches and light abrasions, and oxidation that causes paint to lose its sparkle.
Our process at Patriot Custom Automotive is fairly extensive and extremely detailed.
1. Thoroughly wash the vehicle to remove as much dirt and debris as possible.
2. Decontaminate the paint with a chemical that bonds to micro-metallic fibers and pulls the impurities from the clearcoat over your paint.
3. Rewash the vehicle to ensure all chemicals and any remaining contaminants are removed.
4. Apply the Ceramic coat - extremely detailed work that, once started, it cannot be stopped. The vehicle will cure for approximately 2 hours, and a second coat is applied. The vehicle will need to cure overnight in a dry place.
Ceramic coating is a labor intensive, long process. It typically takes 18 to 24 hours.
